SECTOR 17 review

saraf's seventeen studies

SECTOR 17 (2022)

the 17th (lol) part of my svt discography review!

Ranking system:

🍇 - 10.0 BNM one of their most iconic slays
🍉 - fantastic song that made me feel something
🍓 - eating, a few flaws that are either easy to overlook or a bit charming
🍊 - good background music but i wouldn't seek it out
🍌 - it does nothing for me but isn't outright offensive
🍐 - does nothing for me and is offensive
🍈 - so bad that it almost wraps back around to good just bc i was laffing so much

(note: tracklists are not in album order. they are very loosely ranked)

(should I rank this?) Circles
So no matter what I personally think of this song on a musical level, it clearly means a lot to its writer, so I’ll go easy. I like the bells (?) in the background. I was a little jumpscared by the choir of children. There’s something sort of like… weird about this one, no? I think I can understand why it makes woozi cry. It’s very epilogue, that’s probably it. I feel like I just heard a bit of woozi’s heartsong if I’m being real. It feels bad for me to say much about it.

🍉 CHEERS
“we build a building from our basement unit” is kinda fire. This song makes it abundantly clear how these three have branched off onto three different paths so it’s kind of an interesting character study lol. Like hoshi is absolutely delusional is he not? It really shines here lol like who let him have fun. It’s also nice seeing scoups project some self-confidence, deserve. Woozi is like…giving me tiny rich ceo vibes. Honestly this song kinda rules if I’m being real with you. The ass shake part is so audacious to this day like who let you have fun…

🍇 _World
The haters couldn’t make me stop loving her. I was born to love this song…the way DK knows how to CHEW the word ‘interview’ needs to be studied. This is like…maybe the perfect fun spring/summer song. It doesn’t overstay its welcome. It doesn’t trouble you with any unnecessary parts. It gets straight to activating the brain’s pleasure centers. I think a song this compact and well-written could have been sung by anyone and I would’ve liked it. But I’m certainly glad it’s a seventeen song and that I get to hear the gorgeous booseok vocal stylings for a bit. Wish there were more of those but that’s my only complaint for literally most of their discography lol.
