the 16th part of my svt discography review!

Ranking system:

🍇 - 10.0 BNM one of their most iconic slays
🍉 - fantastic song that made me feel something
🍓 - eating, a few flaws that are either easy to overlook or a bit charming
🍊 - good background music but i wouldn't seek it out
🍌 - it does nothing for me but isn't outright offensive
🍐 - does nothing for me and is offensive
🍈 - so bad that it almost wraps back around to good just bc i was laffing so much

🍐 bout you
What the fuck is this actually… like talk about tone shift. The chorus is kinda like…bad… if we’re being real… them making minghao say he’s a green frog and then including a frog-like sound is sick actually. Maybe minghao’s actually right to be so fed up with things. Why does this song feel so long? It’s under 3 minutes, is it not? How long have I been listening to this. Jeonghan sounded like he was crying in the booth. Man I’ll be so happy when this song finishes. They would play this to torture information out of me in prison

🍊 IF you leave me
So first of all why are we ALL singing? Like…actually, im not even gonna say anything. I’ll just go with it. Omg dk……omg…okay yeah why didn’t he sing more. Okay seungkwan….why did you not sing more as well….that verhan bit in the chorus is a little bit funny and cute. What’s happening in verse 2 it’s giving a little bit experimental. Okay putting jeonghan before dk in the prechorus is sick actually. Im glad scoups listened to me and gave it a real try here. Mingyu doing the outro sdfigjdfiughdk it’s kinda cute.

🍈 HOT
I can’t decide if this is like…an atrocity and an affront to good taste, or if it’s kinda awesome…I guess it’s both. Like this is a LOT, it’s probably too much. That DK prechorus is one of the best things I’ve ever heard. The chorus is hilarious like…you did NOT make jeonghan say “drop it like hot hot hot”. You did not make the choreo for this so intense that he tore something in his facking arm and had to tour in a cast. The part in the mv where wonu steps on his glasses is lol. The um, bratty(?) scoops leading into hoshi creaming all over the beat is kinda egregious. Man like if nothing else this song gave me the best seungkwan of all time. He was soooooo sexy in this it wasn’t even funny. I probably wouldn’t like voluntarily listen to this if I’m being super honest

🍓 Don Quixote
“What do you mean La Mancha’s windmill?” man im honestly not sure. Scoups has been rly…like…what is he doing on his verses… Jeonghan saying “My new name tag says "out of control"” is probably the cutest thing ive ever heard. Wonu ate. Mingyu and dino ate their bit too. I like the synths on this song but I keep expecting a like saxophone breakdown a la Jason Derulo right after they say “so come and call me don quixote”. It’s like fine like they’re having fun they made a fun song.

🍓 March
I find it kinda funny how they actually tried to keep a somewhat consistent concept throughout the album, at least lyrically. What was with the whole lead-up to this album btw? All those obtuse videos about their trauma!? Does anyone remember that!? Anyways this song is fun. It’s not something I’d go out of my way to listen to but I don’t mind that I’m listening to it. I always like when kpop boys pretend to be cowboys lol. What’s with the sick guitar that gets all loud during the bridge lol. Jeonghan saying like a cowboy was moment of the day.

🍓 Darling
Into your heat again I’m diving…like this is filthy. The taste of this tequila yess girl. Why does dino sound SOOOOO good on the prechorus FRIENDS SEE MY FEET AND WORRY and then dk WE REALLY FUCK UP EVERY NIGHT BUT I CANT WAIT NO MOREEEE i can’t decide if the anticlimactic chorus makes me angry or not. I think it only bothers me because we never get a true payoff for the prechorus. It would’ve been great if they really locked in on the final chorus. Like why were those guitars there for one second. Jeonghan is so cute. Seungkwan saying YOU REALLY FUCK UP yeah I do babe. The facking junhao bridge is so stupid cute. I could do without vern demanding a kiss, that made me a little mad. Man this final chorus is such a cocktease.

🍉 Shadow
The synths that open this track are magical like…also dino having a hand in writing this and it’s about shadow work is crazy lfsiodghfdi…also not to be a gyuldaengie but …THE GRIT OF IT PWAH PWAH PWAH FIVE STARS. Omg I forgot how good this song is actually what the fackkkk is wrong with that post chorus they’re sick actually…the way this song is actually kinda real…like, for kpop I mean...omg dino auditioning for me on the bridge yayyyy!!!! I love when he gets like 10 seconds to showcase his talents. Vernon called this track hyperpop in the genius description btw. That man will call anything hyperpop.

🍉 Domino
(Patrick bateman walking down the hallway listening to this song) the production on this is so good. Like it’s really facking good…josh was giving house diva for a second there. Idk what this song has to do with the theme of the album but I’m glad it’s here anyways. Seokgyu were kind of…um…vibing on their bit lol. Why is mingyu kinda fun and fresh fjdgiofjgoid…minghao was ALSO giving house diva for a second there. This production is just so good it’s stupid…like thank god woozi still knows what the fuck he’s doing…also vern sings at the end and I like when he sings.

🍇 Ash
This is maybe one of my favorite svt songs ever…the people who don’t get her are a different breed than I am. Like ENDING the album with this is crazy. Seungkwan lower register is soooooo delish. Like it’s a little funny hearing woozi and josh saying they’re players but then vern’s verse comes in and it’s the best thing he’s ever done. He has yet to top this and it’s okay if he doesn’t. I’m just happy this exists. I sort of need to comment on the DK outro. I saw some people complaining that they shouldn’t cover up his voice with autotune and I understand but you also need to consider that being a fantastic singer means you can utilize autotune to its fullest. Like that is a few seconds of paradise let me tell you. The way they ate this needs to be studied. Jjfs hate her (because jeonghan has no lines, he’s basically jhope spring day on this) but I’m a music lover before anything else and this is MUSIC!
