17 IS RIGHT HERE (2024)
the 24th part of my svt discography review! svt have entered the legacy period of their career, as shown by their anthology album '17 IS RIGHT HERE'. this album includes korean versions of JP tracks, plus all their hits. i will only be looking at the 4 new songs here!
Ranking system:
🍇 - 10.0 BNM one of their most iconic slays
🍉 - fantastic song that made me feel something
🍓 - eating, a few flaws that are either easy to overlook or a bit charming
🍊 - good background music but i wouldn't seek it out
🍌 - it does nothing for me but isn't outright offensive
🍐 - does nothing for me and is offensive
🍈 - so bad that it almost wraps back around to good just bc i was laffing so much

🍐MAESTRO
Um...opening this with Mingyu was a CHOICE. Josh going "classic or new thang" in English was awesome, it's giving diva. I swear they always give DK an epic prechorus that promises so much more than the chorus is able to deliver. They didn't even try. It reminds me of Strong Bad's bottom 10 where he's criticizing Limozeen for releasing songs with only 'La la la nanana hey hey doo doo" as the lyrics. Wait what the fuuuuuuck is Wonu doing. Okay that was awesome. I need Hoshi to shut the fuck up singing through a literal marshmallow like this is the chubby bunny challenge. That hook is just mush to me. Jeonghan forgot how to sing. The bridge is ridiculous and going into that dance break...like idk it's giving me cheapy the cheapskate. Woozi is their workhorse and it's giving glue factory time.
🍌Spell
Here come perfu with the sex song again. Minghao sounds good. Dino sounds good. I won't comment on Hoshi or Jun at this moment. Smartah baby smartah... man idk if it's cuz I'm bringing my personal beefs to the party but hoshi needs to stop hitting on me its giving FLIRTING VS HARASSMENT. the made up phrase...its giving harry potter spell. man this is kinda trash to me idk. like kind of just a nothing song if im being real. like whatever girl
🍊/🍐Cheers to Youth
Woozi reaching deep into his empty, overworked heart and attempting to squeeze the last drops of nostalgic yearning out of it for an anime OP-esque vocu track. Wow why is Josh the only one who gives a fuck lol. I actually think the chorus would've been good if more of them gave more of a fuck. it's also weird that the song spends most of its runtime doing the chorus/refrain over and over. but i guess that's the best part so why not. i almost cried just because the absolute STATE of vocu...like this isn't horrible or anything but it's kinda sad in a "you guys need a five year vacation" type way. like peep how exhausted seungkwan sounds, how jeonghan tries to avoid singing at all costs, how woozi wrote the most PLEASEEEEE TAKE ME BACK TO 2014 PLEASEEEEE track ever, how not even the siren VOCAL could move me, how JOSHUA HONG was the only one who gave a flying fuck.

Vernon should've really said fuck! So far I like the production on this one. Mingyu is pissing me off, though. Why was scoups giving kendrick on the hook lol. WONU????? IDRGHUDFBJHOIFGH I JUST PISSED MYSELF? omg scoups remembered how to rap im so proud of him!!! okay mingyu shut up. this is so much better than maestro it's NOT funny. like idk more and more HHU is becoming the most consistent unit musically...like I have my gripes with a lot of their stuff but esp in the past few releases they've totally been the saving grace.
